Year One contains 7 new modules
This module will provide students with a fundamental grounding in the physiological, biochemical and immunological basis of human health and disease and how diseases can be treated through pharmacological intervention
The aim of this module is to provide students with a clear understanding of the musculoskeletal system and the human body from their developmental, structural and organ perspectives, and to apply this knowledge to common clinical scenarios encountered in healthcare practice.
In this module, students will study the physiology and pharmacology and viral infections of the nervous and muscular systems.
Personal and professional development is concerned with how students as individuals grow and develop within both the healthcare environment and wider society. It provides time to reflect on the challenges and rewards of medical practice, and how an individual might think about sustaining themselves through their career.
This module aims to set health and medical practice in the context of an understanding of the psychological, social and political context in which health issues and their management occur.
This module on biostatistics is designed for first-year medical students to provide a foundational understanding of statistical concepts in medical applications.
