Practice placements take place in healthcare settings around the country. Students may be required to relocate in order to complete their practice placement.

There are 3 mandatory practice placements during the BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics programme.
They are:
- Practice Placement A = 4-week placement in Year 1. Takes place in a hospital catering department
- Practice Placement B = 10-week placement in Year 2. Takes place in acute and primary care settings
- Practice Placement C = 14-week placement in Year 4. Takes place in acute teaching hospitals and primary care settings
