Purpose of the SoM EEDI Committee:
- To promote the Athena Swan Charter principles in the SoM (see Appendix 1).
- To implement the Athena Swan action plan in the SoM.
- To drive the TCD/SoM equity and equality agenda in line with the nine protected grounds in Irish equality legislation ensuring equity and equality are key considerations in all plans developed:
- gender,
- civil status,
- family status,
- sexual orientation,
- age,
- disability,
- race,
- religion, and
- membership of the Traveller community.
Meetings:
The Committee will meet on a two-monthly basis initially and monthly in the 12-18 months prior to an Athena Swan application submission. The Committee will organise its work to ensure that it makes the most effective use of the time, skills and knowledge of members. The diverse range of skills, experience and knowledge of the members and Chair will be employed to contribute to the effective running of the Committee.
Membership and Rotation:
- EEDI Committee membership is open to all Academic, Research and Professional, Managerial, Support and Technical (PMST) staff and students in the SoM.
- The Committee will seek gender balance as per the SoM’s male: female ratio, with a broad range of intersectionalities and a mix of roles/grades representing different stages of the career ladder, particularly at the early and mid-career stages.
- A two-year period of office will be encouraged but rotation will occur yearly, to facilitate for UG and PG students to join. The Committee shall have the right to co-opt new and/or temporary members should a need arise because of leave or based on emerging issues.
