Title of Research Project: Supporting patients and family caregivers in end-of-life care decision-making from the perspective of healthcare professionals in palliative care

Biography 

I am a specialist registrar in palliative medicine working in Beaumont Hospital and St Francis Hospice Raheny. Through my work I have seen the complexities of the decision making process around end of life care, and the challenges this has for patients, family caregivers and the healthcare professionals who support them at this time. This research aims to identify barriers for healthcare professionals in providing support in these situations, and to examine the impact of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act on this.
