Pride in the School of Medicine
At the School of Medicine, we have a fantastic community of LGBTQ+ staff and students. Trinity College Dublin has a long history of progressive, LGBTQ+ inclusive activity. College-wide resources and activities in support of our LGBTQ+ community can be found here. In the School of Medicine, we are working to identify, acknowledge and improve the experiences of those who identify as LGBTQ+ as they work in the fields of medical research and academia, clinical training and healthcare provision.
If you would like to reach out to us about your experience(s) working in School of Medicine, or getting involved in this work, please see our Contact information.
Information on the Trinity College LGBTQ+ Staff Network can be found here.
QSoc, Trinity’s LGBTQ+ Society, is the oldest such society in Ireland, tracing its history to the establishment of the first formal gay rights organisation, the Sexual Liberation Movement, which met on Trinity's campus in 1973. It’s open to all students of any sexual orientation or gender identity wanting to socialise with others interested in queer society, culture, and politics. More information can be found here.
Visibility of Pride in the School of Medicine:
At the School of Medicine, we aim to make our Pride visible across our university and hospital campuses. To mark the end of Pride month 2025, we disseminated rainbow lanyards and “Pride in the School of Medicine” stickers at our Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute (TBSI) campus. Our aim is to increase the awareness and visibility of support for our LGBTQ+ staff and students all year round. If you missed it, feel free to pop in to the Education Office on the first floor of TBSI to grab your free lanyard and stickers. Such events will also be hosted soon (September 2025) in our Tallaght and St. James’ hospital campuses, and lanyards and stickers will soon be available to collect year-round from local pickup points here too.
