On Thursday the 4 December, we had the privilege of hosting Professor Michael Sparer of Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health for the third annual Edward Kennedy Health Policy Guest Lecture. His talk, “A Health System at Risk: The Trump Administration and the Future of U.S. Health Policy,” delivered an engaging examination of the various pressures facing the U.S. health system, and the broader implications for global health policy.
Thank you to Professor Susan Smith for welcoming everyone and setting the tone for a reflective and energising evening, and thank you to Professor Steve Thomas for expertly chairing the session, guiding a rich and engaging discussion.
The event sparked valuable conversations about historical contexts, polarised politics, health-system resilience, and policy design — discussions that continue to resonate long after the lecture ended. We are grateful to all who attended and contributed to making this a memorable and insightful gathering. It was a great turnout and we look forward to more.
