Acquired Brain Injury Case Managers do critical work to integrate services and facilitate person-centred care and support to people recovering from brain injury and their families—to the extent possible in a fragmented and under-resourced neurorehabilitation system.
A study has just been published exploring the role and contributions of ABI Case Managers in Ireland, carried out by PI Dr Katharine Schulmann and colleagues Sara Burke and Veronica Segerström from the Centre for Health Policy and Management, and funded by Acquired Brain Injury Ireland.
Thanks to the brilliant team at ABI Ireland, especially Gráinne McGettrick, for their collaboration and commitment to this work. And foremost, many thanks to the ABI Case Managers and other neurorehabilitation specialists who participated in the study, for giving their time and sharing their experiences, and the work they do every day.
