Caption.ed is a note-taking service that automatically generates captions from video lectures, both live and pre-recorded.

How to Access

You will need a Caption.Ed account with a license for the service to work.

  1. To obtain a license from the Disability Service contact your Disability officer.
  2. You should then receive an email invite asking you to setup your Caption.Ed account password.
  3. Once that's done, log into to your Caption.Ed account.
  4. You should then see the web interface which will list all your previous recordings as well as to download the desktop apps and browser extensions for live recording and captioning.

How to use Caption.Ed

  1. Open the Caption.Ed desktop app and click "Start a new Session".
  2. When asked which audio you would like to record, select either "Microphone" or "Computer + Mic", then click "Start Session".

  1. Open the Caption.Ed desktop app and click "Start a new Session".
  2. When asked which audio you would like to record, select "Computer".
  3. After clicking "Start Session", play the video you are looking to caption.
