Building description

The building was built originally circa 1700s.The building comprises 4 storeys above ground. During the buildings' life it has had many conversions carried out, the impact being offices and facilities converted from the West Theatre over the existing 'House 1 College' structural footprint. There are a number of interconnecting corridors and stairways that link these converted offices above the House 1, this detail covers the ground floor only of House 1 as there is no access to upper floors via the House 1 entrance lobby or a staircase.

There is a Helpdesk and general offices at ground floor level for the 'Office of the Provosts' access from the main lobby, also the lobby gives access to a corridor link towards the Provost's House and Staff Office Hut premises, both to the south of the main building.

Part of the 'Office of the Provosts' encroaches into House 2 College at the ground floor. The main entrance door has steps and no ramp that precludes wheelchair access.
