Gale Aitken: Summer Intern with Disability Service and Careers Service

Gale Aitken was a final year student studying English. In this piece they reflect on their experience working as an intern in both the Career Service and the Disability Service over summer 2022:

“I was an intern with the Careers Service and the Disability Service over summer 2022. In the Careers Service, Rosie and I undertook three projects: surveying the accessibility of prospective employers, interviewing disabled Trinity alumni about their career paths, and helping to improve the Trinity Employability Award, with a focus on the Disability Inclusion Pathway.

In the Disability Service, I mainly created graphics and posted them on social media. I also assisted with improving the awareness of supports for disabled students on professional placement, and helped with other areas of the Service such as TCD Sense.

The internship really helped me with skills like time management, data analysis and graphic design, but also allowed me to experience working in an office environment. It was a great opportunity and I really enjoyed working with other interns.”
