The Purpose of the Role

The Student Ambassador welcomes visitors to Trinity, helping them to familiarize themselves with the campus and to make the most out of the attractions we have to offer. This role supports the Visitor Experience team to provide a warm welcome to visitors to the Book of Kells Experience. It also supports the management of tickets, day-to-day operations and ensures other duties specified below are delivered effectively and efficiently, ensuring we are maximizing revenue opportunities.

The Student Ambassador intern will work closely with other student ambassadors, the Visitor Experience Officers and the Library Guards to ensure a smooth visitor experience is provided. They also work alongside the wider team in the Commercial Revenue Unit, including the Trinity Trails team.

This internship will be managed by the Visitor Experience Officer Supervisors, and reasonable accommodation will be made to support the intern in building their confidence and developing their front of house skills in this role.

There are various shift options that add up to 35 hours a week. This role includes weekend work.  Due to extended opening hours the Student Ambassadors will be expect work alternating early shifts (starting at 8am) and late shifts (which may finish late in the evening).

This role is based primarily in the Old Library, but the intern will also work in the Red Pavilion, and outdoors directing visitors.

Main Responsibilities

Visitor Experience and customer service

  • Provide visitors with a friendly and warm welcome to Trinity and help to familiarize them with the campus and visitor attractions.
  • Assist visitors with wayfinding, directing them between the two buildings of the Book of Kells Experience and to the gift shop.
  • Ticket checking/scanning at the entrance to Book of Kells Experience and information points.
  • Assist in generating revenue for Trinity through upselling tickets, directing visitors to relevant cafés, attractions, and having a general knowledge of opening hours and prices.

Operations

  • Work closely with the Trinity Trails (TT) team to ensure that the visitor experience between TT and the Book of Kells Experience is consistently strong.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping front of house.
  • To undertake any other appropriate duties as may be allocated from time to time in accordance with the general nature of the post.
