Summer intern with Trinity Sport 2024

6 week fixed-term contract 4th June – 12th July.

Based at Trinity College Sports Centre

Reports to: 

Participation and Engagement Officer

Salary:  

A salary of €450 per week will be provided as part of the internship. Travel fees, and other expenses will be covered as appropriate. Paid monthly, one month in arears

Hours of Work: 

35 hours per week

Closing Date:  

5PM (Irish Standard time), 19th April 2024

 

Interview Date:  

 During week of 29th April 2024.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Trinity Sport is working with the Trinity Disability Service to provide summer internship opportunities to disabled students in Trinity. This internship will give students an insight into all aspects of Trinity Sport, including sport development, business development, operations and communications with a focus on increasing student participation in sport and physical activity at Trinity College Dublin.

Opportunities

At the end of the internship period, the suitable candidate can expect to have developed the following;

  • An introduction to the national and international third level sporting sector.
  • Insight into the process behind sport and physical activity development and delivery.
  • Interpersonal and networking skills from working with a mix of teams and personnel from all levels within and external to the organisation.
  • Task management from being able to balance multiple demands and deal with them in a timely manner.
  • Training and development opportunities (courses, seminars, conferences) as appropriate.

Work with the Trinity Sport team to co-ordinate and deliver a range of programmes, initiatives and events in sport and physical activity to increase participation levels]

  • Assist with the delivery and planning of social sport programmes and events.
  • Assist with coaching in the Trinity sport’s camps.
  • Assist the operations team with the daily delivery of sport services.
  • Highlight one recommendation area to improve sport and physical activity for students in Trinity and prepare a presentation to showcase its delivery.

Work with Trinity Sport to enhance the promotion of sport and physical activity programmes and events to students]

  • Update the TCD sense map to include information about sport facilities both on and off campus.
  • Assist the communications team with branding and marketing guidelines for Trinity Sport platforms to maximise engagement.
  • Develop one potential campaign that can be used to highlight sport and physical activity to non-active student groups.

  • Passion and interest in sport and/or physical activity.

  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Someone who has high energy and enjoys working in a busy, exciting, and constantly changing environment.
