Angelina Lavelle - Disability Officer

Biography
Angelina is a Senior Disability Officer with the Trinity College Dublin disAbility Service. Her role involves processing student applications for disability support and putting in place standard reasonable accommodations. She also oversees the Accommodation Bursary process, assesses applications, and works closely with the Accommodation Office to support disabled students living in Trinity-owned residences. In addition, she assists students who require Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), ensuring their safety and inclusion on campus.
She joined the TCD disAbility Service in May 2022, following her role at Maynooth University as a Student Advisor for under-represented students in higher education, including those with disabilities.
Angelina also worked with the Central Applications Office (CAO), assessing Higher Education Access Route (HEAR) and Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) applications, giving her valuable insight into the financial and structural barriers faced by students from pre-entry through to post-entry stages of university.
Angelina holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from University College Dublin (2020), where her thesis explored the information needs of students in higher education with dyslexia. With a strong background in student advising and disability access, she has particular expertise in universal design for learning and tailored support for students entering higher education.
She is passionate about equity of access, advocating for inclusive education systems that recognise both the academic and personal challenges faced by disabled students. Her work is driven by a commitment to building supportive, accessible learning environments that enable all students to succeed.
