TCD SENSE Guidelines
The TCD SENSE Guidelines have been developed to support the creation of more inclusive, accessible, and user-centred environments across Trinity College Dublin. The guidelines aim to help ensure that physical spaces, services, systems, teaching environments, and campus experiences are designed with the diverse needs of students, staff, and visitors in mind from the outset.
Grounded in the principles of Universal Design, accessibility, and lived experience, the guidelines promote an approach that moves beyond minimum compliance towards environments that actively support participation, belonging, wellbeing, independence, and dignity for all users.

The development of the guidelines has been informed by:
- user-led accessibility audits
- engagement with disabled students and staff
- operational experiences across the University
- national and international accessibility standards
- inclusive design and Universal Design principles
The TCD SENSE Guidelines are intended to support:
- Estates and campus development projects
- teaching and learning environments
- student services and support areas
- digital and communication practices
- event planning and public engagement
- operational decision-making across the University
Accessibility and inclusion are shared institutional responsibilities. The TCD SENSE Guidelines support Trinity staff, students, designers, contractors, and partners in embedding inclusive thinking into everyday practice and future campus development.
