Course Description

The Online Postgraduate Level 9 Diploma in Population Health and Health Services Research comprehensively introduces you to the field of population health and health services research by building theoretical, contextual and practical knowledge and skills.

This innovative joint award of The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Trinity College Dublin and University College Cork brings together the best expertise in population health and health services research. It is designed for busy health care and health system professionals working across the sector who wish to develop and/or build on their existing expertise in population health and health services research. The Postgraduate Diploma is delivered using a blended format of online content with interactive webinars and discussion forums and allows you the flexibility to engage with coursework at a time and place suitable to you.

Students complete 60 credits within 2 academic years of registering for the programme.

Year 1
Students take 30 credits as follows:

M1 Perspectives on Population Health and Health Services Research (PHHSR) (10 credits)
M2 Applied Research Methods (10 credits)
M3 Health Systems Policy and Management (10 credits)

Year 2
Students take 30 credits as follows:

M4 Systematic Reviewing and Protocol Development (10 credits)
M5 Working with Health and Information Data (10 credits)
M6 Health Economics (10 credits)

Applicants are required to hold a National Framework of Qualifications Level 8 primary degree (or equivalent) in health, social science, statistics, economics or a related discipline. A related Master’s Degree may also qualify for admission.

Applicants must also have a fluent command of the English language. Students whose first language is not English must meet the University's English language requirements.
