Peer Support Groups
Autistic Peer Group
Within the Disability Service (DS), staff are committed to providing students with opportunities to feel like they have a place within the College community. Part of this effort is providing Autistic students, students who feel they may be Autistic or share a similar experience with a space to share their experiences and meet others.
The Disability Service runs a weekly drop-in group for Autistic students throughout the academic year. This group is open to all students who feel they may benefit from attending, including those engaging with the Disability Service with an existing diagnosis of Autism, as well as those not connected to the Disability Service who identify as Autistic/neurodivergent.
The Autistic Peer Group will take place on Tuesdays during term time from 5pm-6pm in An Mheiteal, Printing House Square.
Wayfinding to An Mheiteal can be found here.
ADHD Peer Group
The Disability Service runs an ADHD peer support group for students. This group will take place on a weekly basis for the duration of the academic year and will be open to all students who feel they may benefit from attending, including those engaging with the Disability Service with an existing diagnosis of ADHD, as well as those not connected to the Disability Service who may be seeking diagnosis or who suspect they may have ADHD.
The ADHD peer group will take place on Thursdays during term time from 4pm-5pm in An Mheiteal, Printing House Square.
Please express interest in the group using the form here
Wayfinding to An Mheiteal can be found here.
Queer Disabled Peer Group
The Disability Service runs a Queer Disabled Peer Support Group. This group is open to any student who is identifies as both queer and disabled. You do not need to be registered with the disAbility Service to attend, nor will you be asked to disclose your queer or disabled identities if you do not wish to do so.
The aim of this group is to help support students with these intersectional identities that may have difficulty finding safe and welcoming spaces with those with similar experiences. The group will be co-facilitated by a queer disabled student and a disAbility Service staff member.
We would ask that anyone who wishes to attend any session over this semester express interest by filling out the form linked below. We will then keep the group closed during the remainder of the semester to ensure the safety and confidentiality of participants as we recognise not everyone wishes to be open about their identities and/or diagnoses within their wider college life.
We will reach out to those who expressed interest with meeting details closer to the date of the first meeting.
