Managing Your Accommodations in Blackboard Ultra

If you have approved exam/in-course exam accommodations (e.g. flexibility with deadlines) through the Disability Service on your LENS report, they are applied directly in Blackboard Ultra. This is module specific not assessment specific. Extension policy – 7-day extension will apply with some exemptions. If the extension cannot be applied, the lecturer will explain why the extension cannot be applied. This ensures fairness and consistency in your assessments.

NSRA LENS that has flexibility with deadlines on their LENS will default to 7-day extension so there is a need to ensure this is captured on active LENS. The exemptions to the extension policy also needs to be understood and explained.

  1. Due Date Accommodation
    • You may submit assignments after the official deadline without penalty.
    • Your work will not be flagged as late in the gradebook.
    • Example: If an assignment is due on 10 November 2025, you can submit it later, and it will not be marked as late.
  1. Time Limit Accommodation
    • You receive additional time for timed assessments such as online tests or exams.
    • The system automatically applies this extra time based on your approved LENS report.
    • Example: If a test has a 40-minute time limit and you have 100% extra time, you will have 80 minutes.

Key Points to Remember

  1. These accommodations are automatically built into Blackboard Ultra.
  2. You do not need to request them for each assignment or test.
  3. If you notice an accommodation is missing or incorrect, contact your lecturer and the Disability Service immediately.
  4. Your accommodations are confidential and only visible to your lecturers.
