Project Title: SAGES: Sustainable Aviation & Green Energy Scholars Program
Unique among international scholarship programmes, Innovate for Ireland supports advanced doctoral research focused on sustainability and innovation. Co-led by Dublin City University and Trinity College Dublin, the SAGES Programme integrates expertise in aviation policy, finance, engineering, and entrepreneurship. The programme supports five PhD iScholars who investigate technologies and strategies to reduce aviation’s carbon footprint. Scholars will contribute to developing meaningful solutions for aviation decarbonisation through rigorous academic research, stakeholder engagement, and applied analysis.
The programme’s interdisciplinary approach will train future aviation leaders to forge stronger links between scientific breakthroughs, policy reforms, and market adoption. SAGES ultimately aims to position Ireland as a global frontrunner in sustainable aviation, attracting investment, shaping decarbonisation strategies, and contributing to the broader transition toward a net-zero future.
