Pulsed magnetic stimulation of neurons

The aims for our work are to elucidate the physical and biochemical mechanisms involved the in vitro magnetic stimulation of neuron and to measure TMS effects on neuronal development and neurotransmitter release.

Detectable multi-segment nanowires could act as the magnetic ‘barcodes’ to molecular biomarkers.

Application to Neurons in Vitro

The system developed is based on the transcranial magnetic stimulation devices (TMS), which have been incorporated into various neuroscience clinical applications relating to the nervous systems. The pulsed magnetic stimulation system comprises of a 1.5 kV pulse generator, switching circuit and a stimulating coil, which produces a magnetic field up to 2T using 90 mm circular coil
