Research Interests
Astronomical research has been carried out at TCD since the 1700s, and from 1792 until 1921, the Andrews Professor of Astronomy at Trinity was also Royal Astronomer of Ireland. The astrophysics group currently has world-leading expertise in exoplanets, debris disks, and brown dwarfs, as well as supernovae, fast radio bursts, and explosive extragalactic transients.
This research is supported by Science Foundation Ireland, the Irish Research Council, the European Research Council, EU's Framework Programmes, , ESA and NASA.
