Congratulations to Prof Felix Binder !
For the Successful awarding of funding (€ 490k) under the EU DIGITAL-2025-SKILLS-08-QUANTUM-ACADEMY-STEP (Advanced Digital Skills).
Project Title: European Quantum Academy (EQA)
Backed by €19.8 million in funding, the EQA will act as Europe’s coordinating body for quantum technology education, supporting the development of the skilled workforce the sector will need over the next four years as quantum computing, sensing and communications move from the laboratory to the market.
The European Quantum Academy (EQA) will establish the first comprehensive, pan-European ecosystem for quantum education and training, ensuring a continuous pipeline of talent from schools to doctoral research and lifelong learning. Building on the achievements of QTEdu, DigiQ, QTIndu, and QUCATS, the EQA unites 71 partners and +100 affiliates in six Regional Quantum Academies, bridging national ecosystems into a coordinated European framework.
The EU-wide Quantum Academy (involve about 70 partners across the EU) will coordinate graduate teaching and related training programs across the European Union. This programme offers an opportunity to identify collaborative opportunities for teaching and training in quantum information science within Ireland.
It will complement our research activities at the Quantum Science and Technology centre IrelandQCI, with both efforts mutually reinforcing each other.
The Academy pursues four strategic objectives: (1) create a sustainable European structure integrating outreach, higher education, and workforce training; (2) design harmonised curricula and flexible pathways at EQF levels 7–8, aligned with the European Competence Framework for Quantum Technologies; (3) expand access to experimental and digital infrastructures, enabling scalable hands-on learning; and (4) continuously monitor and steer Europe’s quantum workforce through labour market intelligence and community engagement.
