Out of Hours Working in School of Physics

Link to Sign-In Form

From Monday 24th January we will be permitting out of hours access to School of Physics locations for Office and Non-Hazardous lab work only. Out of hours is defined as after 7pm Monday to Friday or anytime at weekends. To avail of Out of Hours working you will be required to complete on an on-line sign in/out Form.  Attached is an updated version of the SoP local COVID rules document, that now includes details of Out of Hours Working. We will be updating the signage in our buildings with specific information and out of hours emergency contact numbers to help support this.

Use of the Safezone app is mandatory for out of hours working as it can provide access to security and a response in the event of an emergence. The App should be loaded onto your phone or the lab PC (please ensure you have WiFi coverage on your phone if working in basement areas). You can download the SafeZone app from the iOS or Android App stores, enter your TCD username and password, complete the registration form and you are good to go: https://www.tcd.ie/Physics/covid19/docs/safezone-app-setup.pdf .

If you are planning on working out of hours, please make sure to do the following:

  1. If working in any research lab space, you must complete a risk assessment whatever you are doing, if working in dedicated office/writeup space, this is not required.
  2. Nominate a colleague who will also be in the building who can act as a buddy. Your buddy needs to be onsite if you are doing lab work but can be off-site if you are working in a dedicated office/write up space.
  3. Complete the out of hours sign in log - which can be found here :
  4. Sign out using the same Form when leaving
