Starting today, 16 April, IT Services will begin pushing updates to all Trinity managed devices that are still running the older affected Adobe software versions.

These updates will run silently in the background of your device. No user involvement will be required for them to install.

If you have any questions or encounter any issues after these updates are installed, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Adobe has released a security update for several of its document-reading applications, including Adobe Acrobat Reader, Acrobat DC, and Acrobat 2024.

A recently identified vulnerability means that attackers could potentially install malicious software on a device if a specially crafted PDF file is opened using a vulnerable version of these applications.

Updating the software to the latest version (or removing it if it is not needed) resolves the vulnerability.

What you should do

If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader, Acrobat DC, or Acrobat 2024 installed on your device:

  • If you use the software:
Update the application to the latest available version.
  • If you do not use the software:
Please uninstall it from your device.

IT Services will also begin pushing updates to managed devices where possible, but you may still need to update or remove the software manually.
