The Edugate federation involves several Irish higher education institutions that have agreed upon a standard method of sharing information about users, in order to enable easy access to certain services with their existing login credentials.
The Edugate federation is a service operated by HEAnet in co-operation with HEAnet client institutions such as Trinity College.
The end result is that staff and students can log into several HEAnet and other internet-based services using their College username and network login password. This removes the need to maintain separate accounts on these systems and helps prevent password issues.
