Multi-factor Authentication
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is required for all staff and students who wish to access services such as Microsoft 365, MyZone, and the VPN (staff only) when not on the campus network.
MFA provides added security to your account, ensuring that it cannot be used without your knowledge.
With MFA, you will be prompted to confirm your identity via the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
Without access to your physical mobile device, remote attackers can’t pretend to be you to gain unauthorised access to your account.
You will receive an MFA prompt when logging on to the following services from off campus:
- Microsoft 365
- VPN (staff only)
- Core Portal
- Trinity Web Systems
- MyZone
- SITS my.tcd.ie
- Blackboard LMS
- Panopto
