Offices and Labs - Moving a computer to a different location in Trinity

If you need to move your computer from one Trinity office or laboratory to another, in most instances all that needs to be done is to physically relocate the device to its new location.

Wired connections

If your computer is connected to the wired network and needs a wired connection in the new location, you should ensure that there is an active network point available in the new location. Please see our page on network points and cables for information about network points, including how to request activation or installation.

Please note that wired network connections in the areas listed below are restricted to devices located in these specific areas. If you are moving your computer to, or from, one of the following areas you should submit a network move request prior to the move so your computer can be given network access in the new location:

  • Biosciences Building
  • St. James’s Hospital
  • Tallaght Hospital
  • 7 – 9 South Leinster Street
  • Apollo House
  • School of Nursing and Midwifery, D’Olier Street

Wi-Fi connections

If your computer is connected to the Trinity Wi-Fi network it will continue to be able to connect to the Wi-Fi service after you move. For further details please see the Trinity Wi-Fi coverage information web page.
