Welcome to the Library's Research Collections. On this page you will find all the information you need to discover and access the Library's early printed books, special collections, manuscripts, and archives.

This includes our up-to-date joint reading room opening hours, how to find collections in our catalogues, arrangements to consult material, and how to view digitised versions of some of these collections online. We are also happy to help with remote research queries, and to support the curriculum within and beyond the Trinity campus.

Research Collections is located in the Old Library, which has been the home of research in Trinity College Dublin for almost 300 years. The collections include the Library's oldest and most valuable books, maps, manuscripts, and archives, with collections dating from 13th century BC to the present day. The collections are constantly increasing, both under legal deposit of new printed Irish works and by purchase or donation.

People from across the world utilise the Library's Research Collections, and we look forward to adding you to the generations who have explored our collections.
