Getting Content into TARA

Do-it-Yourself (Scholarly Papers and Past Theses)

To deposit a work NOT already listed in the Research Support System:

  1. Login to the Research Support System
  2. Click on "Your Curriculum Vitae"
  3. Click on the green "plus" icon beside the "Publications" section.
  4. Select the type of publication from the drop-down list
  5. Enter the details of the publication and click ‘Next"
  6. On the next screen, check the citation and share the record with other TCD authors where appropriate, using the function provided
  7. At the bottom of the screen, click the "Upload fulltext to the TCD Repository" button
  8. Browse for the file you wish to upload and click "Next"
  9. This screen allows you to check, verify and change any of the details (and the file) you have entered. You may also go back and add keywords, abstract, etc. at this stage if you wish. Click "Next" when ready
  10. This is the licence - read through it carefully and (if satisfied) click "I agree"
  11. The final screen tells you that your submission is now in progress - our administrators will now check the copyright policies of your publisher in order to approve the deposit
  12. As soon as the item has been checked successfully, you will receive an e-mail letting you know. The message will contain the link to your document in TARA. This is a stable "persistent identifier" which you can use to link to the paper from your website etc.

To deposit a work THAT IS already listed in the Research Support System:

  1. Login to the Research Support System
  2. Click on "Your Curriculum Vitae"
  3. In the "Publications" section, click on the "pencil" icon beside the publication you wish to upload
  4. Click on the "Close" button at the top of the screen
  5. At the bottom of the next screen, click the "Upload fulltext to the TCD Repository" button.
  6. Follow the instructions listed in the previous procedure (from no. 8 onwards).

Let Us Do It For You (Scholarly Papers and Past Theses)

Researchers may e-mail papers to Research Information Systems and Services staff with permission to deposit the material in TARA. The following will speed up the process:

  • Get the permission of co-authors and inform Research Information Systems and Services staff
  • Send the "post-print" version of the paper i.e., the author’s final draft post peer-review

Electronic Theses for Research Students Submitting the Final (Examined, Corrected and Approved) Version of a Thesis

When researchers receive a message from the Graduate Studies Office advising them to deposit a thesis electronically, fthey should follow these instructions (PDF 479KB).
