Microsoft has announced that after October 2025, legacy Outlook for Mac will no longer be supported.

Since 2022, the new Outlook for Mac has been the default version, and most users are already using it without needing to take any action. However, if you are a Mac user and haven’t enabled the new Outlook or are still using the legacy version, it's important to take action now.

To check and make the switch:

If you see the “Legacy Outlook” toggle in your Outlook app:

  • Open Outlook for Mac.
  • Switch the ‘Legacy Outlook’ toggle button to ‘Off’

toggle for Outlook Mac

If your version of Outlook doesn’t include the ‘Legacy Outlook’ toggle and you're unsure which version you’re using on your Mac, follow these steps:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Select Help > Check for Updates.
  3. Allow updates to run
  4. Re-open Outlook
