Supported versions of macOS

In Trinity offices and labs and on the Staff Wi-Fi service

IT Services currently provides support for computers running the following versions of macOS on the Trinity data network in offices and labs, and on the Staff Wi-Fi service:

  • macOS Sequoia (15.x)
  • macOS Sonoma (14.x)
  • macOS Ventura (13.x)

Not sure what version of macOS you are running? Check out our webpage for details on how you can find out.

On the Student Wi-Fi service

IT Services currently provides support for computers running the following versions of macOS on the Student Wi-Fi service in Trinity residences and on campus:

  • macOS Sequoia (15.x)
  • macOS Sonoma (14.x)
  • macOS Ventura (13.x)

Support for macOS Tahoe (26.x) in Trinity offices and labs and on the Staff and Student Wi-Fi service

macOS Tahoe (26.x) was released on the 15th of September 2025.

IT Services will carry out testing of macOS Tahoe for network connectivity and compatibility with our central IT services.

Until this testing is complete, which may take several weeks, we will not be able to provide support for this version of macOS in Trinity offices and labs and on the Staff and Student Wi-Fi service. We would recommend not upgrading to macOS Tahoe until our testing is completed successfully.

Apple and other providers like Microsoft have withdrawn support for macOS Ventura (13.x) with the release of macOS Tahoe. IT Services will formally end support for macOS Ventura (13.x) once we have adopted support for macOS Tahoe.

Support for privately-owned devices

IT Services' remit for technical support on privately-owned devices extends only to providing advice on how to use our supported services, such as network connectivity, and general IT advice.  IT Services cannot provide technical support for software or hardware issues arising on privately-owned devices.

Older versions of macOS

Apple has ended support for macOS Monterey and earlier versions of macOS. This means that they no longer provide software security updates for these operating systems and continuing to run these unsupported operating systems represents a security risk to the Trinity data network and to your own data. If your computer is running an earlier version of macOS, then we encourage you to take action to ensure you continue to receive full support from us by upgrading your operating system. Information on how to upgrade, for free, to a more recent version of macOS can be found on the Apple website at www.apple.com/macos/how-to-upgrade.
