Automated Stack Requests (ASR)
Automated Stack Requests (ASR) allow registered users to order certain types of items from Closed Access Stacks.
In Stella Search or Classic Catalogue click "request stack item". The system will then ask the user to log in and choose the Service Counter to which the material will be delivered.
When the item is available in the Library an e-mail is sent to the registered address of the requester. The e-mail may list several items if multiple items were ordered.
Make a note of the shelfmark of the material and give this to Service Counter staff. Note, once an item has been brought into the Library from storage, any user can ask to view it, and if the item is borrowable by staff or postgraduate students, might be loaned out before the original requester collects it. It therefore pays to collect material as soon as possible after receiving the notification e-mail from the Service Counter.
Delivery Times using Automated Stack Requests (ASR)
Delivery times for Stacks material depends on the location the request was made, the location of the material, the time of year, traffic, and the availability of staff.
Material is generally delivered within 24 hours of a request; items located on campus may arrive much sooner. An e-mail is sent when the item is ready for collection. Deliveries to the Hamilton or John Stearne Medical Library may take longer.
