Professor Martha O"Hagan is an Associate Professor of Finance, a Fellow of TCD, and the Director of Undergraduate Teaching and Learning in Trinity Business School. She holds a BA in Economics, an MSc in Finance from Trinity College and a PhD in International Finance. Her research is in the area of Behavioural Finance, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Finance, with a particular focus on financing nature restoration. She has published articles in the British Journal of Management, the Cambridge Journal of Economics, Small Business Economics, Ecosystem Services and Forest Policy and Economics. She is currently involved in several research projects in the area of funding nature restoration and conservation and is part of the Business and Nature Hub. Current research projects are ReFarm www.refarm.ie, FOREST https://www.tcd.ie/e3/forest/, FarmCredit https://www.farmcreditproject.com/and INVESTGREEN. She is on the advisory board of the AIB Trinity Climate Hub and on the Steering Committee of Natural Capital Ireland.
Prior to completing her PhD Professor O"Hagan worked in Investment Banking in London and Dublin, for Bank of America, Credit Suisse First Boston and Bank of Ireland Global Markets. Her area of specialisation was derivatives and financial engineering.
Professor O"Hagan has received multiple teaching awards - the Provost"s Teaching Excellence Award, a Teaching Hero Award and has received the Trinity Business School Teaching Excellence Award every year since 2018.
