Catherine (Denni) Cawley

Biography

Catherine (Denni) Cawley is a PhD Candidate and Adjunct Teaching Fellow at Trinity Business School, with her experience spanning academia, industry, non-profits, government, and international organisations. Her current research focuses on Organisational Readiness for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Management Education. Denni has delivered lectures on “Organisational Readiness for AI” and “Marketing Management Leadership and Digital Transformation.” Her research interests include digital transformation, innovation, and leadership. Her paper titled "Are Business Schools Ready for AI?" was awarded Best Paper (2nd Prize) at the 2023 European Academy of Management (EURAM) Doctoral Colloquium. She has presented her research at the 2024 Academy of Management (AOM) and 2024 EURAM conferences, and has facilitated workshops on teaching with technology and amplifying the practitioner voice at the AOM.

Throughout her career, Denni has cultivated strategic partnerships driving organisational growth. She has led global executive education teams as Head of Executive Education at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, and as Director of Executive Education at Utah Valley University in the United States. Additionally, Denni has provided leadership coaching to senior executives across various sectors. Denni’s diverse career has equipped her with the ability to apply multiple perspectives to her research. She has contributed to international environmental policy and human rights initiatives through her work with the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) in Washington, DC. In her role as Assistant Director for Strategic Initiatives at the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Denni led efforts to streamline health data access for research and improve health outcomes across Bay Area institutions. She also served as Executive Director of Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment, an environmental non-profit organisation.

Currently, Denni serves as the Practitioner Liaison of the AOM Management Education and Development (MED) Division, where she received a 2024 Service Award for her contributions. She is also a representative to the Open Education Advisory Group of the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education at the Higher Education Authority (HEA) in Ireland.
