Biography

Amanda Shantz is a Professor of Responsible Leadership at Trinity College Dublin. A Canadian by birth, Amanda has lived and worked in France, Ireland, Switzerland, and the UK. She holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a BA Hons from McGill University. Her research focuses on how organizations leverage human talent to achieve high levels of success, while at the same time, ensure that they make a positive impact in the communities in which they operate. Amanda publishes her research in top academic and practitioner journals and has won several awards for her work.

She is currently the Academic Director of the Executive MBA (2025-present). She works with various stakeholders and across internal and external teams to develop and deliver a programme that is designed to help emerging and established leaders find both personal and professional success.

Amanda is passionate about unlocking the leadership potential in others and their teams. For over 15 years, Amanda has been at the forefront of developing and delivering high-quality leadership and team development programmes to managers, and executives. Her areas of expertise include self-leadership, managing people, team development, and developing organizations that nurture talent. For example, she has worked with senior leadership and C-suite teams to support strategy development, decision-making processes, and lateral influence. She is known for her ability to distil complex situations to uncover the core issues that truly matter. Further, her infectious enthusiasm and ability to connect with others create an inspiring atmosphere where ideas flourish and collaboration thrives. By blending evidence-based insight with energy, she motivates teams to think creatively and work cohesively.
