Accessibility

In accordance with the University’s Equal Opportunity Policy, the Staff Development Unit aims to provide accessible training for all staff.  Please let us know if you have any specific needs so we can be as accommodating as possible.
Room 3.4 (Staff Development Room) is on the 3rd floor in HR and there are no lift facilities in House 4, however this venue can be re-arranged to suit individual needs where possible.

Line Manager Approval

It is the responsibility of each individual to obtain Line Manager approval prior to confirming your attendance at any of the training days.

Guest Speakers / Trainers

Rowan Manahan, Career Coach

Rowan has worked in the commercial-industrial sector with indigenous and multinational companies and have since amassed over 20 years’ experience mentoring and training with executives at all levels. He splits his time between specialist consultation on Presentation Skills and Career issues.

He serves as an External Lecturer for Trinity, Bochum University, The National College of Ireland, Dublin Institute of Technology and Froebel College (NUIM).  He’s the author of two best-selling books on career management issues, speaks frequently at a variety of conferences and appears regularly in the media sharing ideas and advice relating to the world of work. 

Andrew Mc Laughlin, Executive Coach & Professional Mentor, Irish Management Institute (IMI)

Andrew has more than 20 years’ experience in learning and development and has consulted and taught all over the world. He has an extensive coaching practice in Ireland, in the private and public sectors. He coaches internationally, both in Europe and the United States. He is the coach’s coach, having designed and taught the IMI’s level 9 programme on executive coaching for many years. He also leads the IMI masters and diploma courses in Organisational Behaviour. Andrew holds primary and masters level qualifications in psychology and is an accredited NLP coach, Ericsson coach, Master trainer, NLP Trainer, and holds qualifications in the full range of psychometrics including EQ Map, EQI and ECR, in the area of emotional intelligence alone. He has published a major work for the IDA on the mind of the Irish Entrepreneur which contains much original research in this area. He also has published research on Work Life Balance in the Hotel and Catering business and Competency Based Interviewing in Ireland. His further research interests are in negotiation skills and stress management.

Trish Harrison, Trainer, Protrain

Trish holds a Diploma in Training & Development (DIT), International Mediation Institute (IMI) Certified Mediator, Diploma in Business Studies (DIT), Mediation (FETAC Level 6), Coaching (FETAC Level 6), Member of the Irish Institute of Training & Development. Trish has focused her career over the last two decades on training and development, from both a corporate and individual viewpoint. In addition to her training and facilitation skills, she has developed further strengths as a result of her experience in sales and marketing roles.

Trish brings her vibrant enthusiasm for training to every course she delivers. Her resulting style is participative and inclusive, which empowers learners to develop their skills and achieve great results from training.
