Research Expertise
My research focuses on exploration and analysis of factors of uncertainty for organizations and supply chains to develop decision making mechanisms. Climate change and political turmoil keep birthing unforeseen factors of uncertainty around the world. Transient shocks of unprecedented and massive scale such as Covid crisis keep exacerbating the problem of dealing with uncertainty for organizations and supply chains. Researchers capable of using various research methods are in advantage of handling the versatility and scale of this challenge. Prior to my appointment, I have demonstrated my capability to study a diverse set of research questions conceptually, empirically (e. g. using qualitative data from interviews), and theoretically (e. g. via mathematical modelling), and with scholars of different fields including medical science, law, and finance. Currently, I am in the process of enhancing my research portfolio and its impact with interdisciplinary projects and striving to publish extensions of my previous work. For example, with Prof. Dr. Mete Feridun (CFSA, FHEA, https://mete-feridun.com/index.htmla) I have invited to Trinity Business School as a visiting researcher and my long-time co-author Dr. Orkun Bayram (whose expertise is in banking and finance), I will work on analysing the financial stability implications of continuing fiscal measures governments have first put into place in response to the COVID-19 crisis. We intend to identify the transmission channels of the fiscal measures in terms of solvency and liquidity issues in the real economy. We will investigate the policy measures that affect the financial sector directly and the potential feedback effects that may occur if the financial system becomes stressed. This project will aim for publication in ABS level-3 journals such as Regulation & Governance and European Urban and Regional Studies; and it will extend my work on financial policy measures with this team, recently published in Sustainability journal addressing a wider audience.
