Scholarships are open to all sports and are tenable for one year, however they may be renewed on an annual basis until a student graduates once they have engaged and achieve agreed key performance indicators.

Trinity Sport Scholarship Application 2026-27
Criteria
To apply for the Trinity College Sport Scholarship programme athletes must fulfil the general eligibility criteria as listed below.
- All applicants must satisfy the normal entry requirements of the University and have been offered a place on a course in Trinity. Current students must show academic progression and maintain a satisfactory academic standard throughout the duration of their course.
- Only sports recognised by Sport Ireland will be considered
- Applicants must demonstrate outstanding ability in their sport and demonstrate their ability to compete at national / international level, or inter-county level for GAA applicants
- All sport scholars must represent Trinity College Dublin intervarsity and national league teams where appropriate competition pathway are in place.
- Applications will be assessed sport by sport, with athlete’s home national structure and international ranking factored into the final decision. Sports on the Performance Pathway & Olympic sports will be given preference.
- Successful applicants will be required to complete a Sport Scholarship agreement outlining the Terms & Conditions associated with the scholarship offer.
- Continuation on the post scholarship programme each year is dependent on the recipient making satisfactory progress in both academic and sporting performance.

Trinity GAA Scholarships
In addition to our general sports scholarships, Trinity offers two scholarships specifically for GAA players.
Trinity GAA Football Scholarship supported by Phoenix Labs Dioralyte
This scholarship recognises and supports exceptional student-athletes competing at the highest levels of Gaelic Football. Scholarship recipients will received tailored supports to help them excel in their sporting and academic ambitions at Trinity.
Benefits:
- Scholarship valued at up to €10,000 per annum for the duration of undergraduate degree, subject to the scholar meeting the scholarship conditions each year.
- Includes a financial bursary of up to €5,000 to support with academic and training costs, along with personalised supports to assist athletic and academic progression.
- Supports include
- Individualised Strength & Conditioning
- Sport Science support
- Physiotherapy
- Nutrition support
- Scholarship kit
- Lifestyle and academic support
Minimum Criteria & Eligibility
- Open to male and female Gaelic Football players who are pursuing an undergraduate course in Trinity for the 2026/2027 academic year
- Regular starter on Minor, U20 or Senior inter-county Men's or Ladies football team
Additional Considerations
The selection committee will also consider:
- The applicant's potential to make a significant contribution to Trinity GAA
- References from coaches/managers
- Success at inter-county level, including:
- Being a key player on a Provincial or All-Ireland winning team, competing in Division 1 or equivalent of respective grades
- Individual awards and accolades

- Trinity GAA/GPA Enhanced Sport Scholarship
In partnership with the Gaelic Players Association, Trinity have two Enhanced GAA scholarships open to postgraduate students.
Benefits:
- Financial bursary of €5,000 to support tuition fees and training costs.
- Personalised supports to support athletic and academic progression.
- Supports include
- Individualised Strength & Conditioning
- Sport Science support
- Physiotherapy
- Nutrition support
- Scholarship kit
- Lifestyle and academic support
Minimum Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a member of the Gaelic Players Association (GPA).
- Be pursuing a postgraduate course at Trinity.
- Be eligible to play third-level GAA and represent Trinity GAA in competitions.

Trinity Rowing Scholarships
Trinity Rowing Scholarships
In addition to our general sports scholarships, Trinity have specific scholarships for talented rowers. The scholarships support talented student-athletes to represent Trinity Rowing at national and international competitions while pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate academic study in Trinity College Dublin.

Minimum Criteria & Eligibility
- Open to applicants pursuing an undergraduate course in Trinity for the 2026/2027 academic year
- Applicants must demonstrate exceptional performance and potential in competitive rowing, evidenced by participation at national or international levels (e.g., national championships, World Rowing events, or equivalent).
- Applicants must be willing to represent Trinity in rowing competitions, contribute towards the development of rowing at Trinity and achieve performance related goals
