Moloney and McNichols represented Ireland on court, while Tanner was part of the coaching team as assistant coach, highlighting Trinity’s strong contribution to Irish volleyball both on and off the court.
Ireland opened the tournament in impressive fashion with a commanding 3-0 victory over hosts Andorra before falling to the Faroe Islands in their second Pool A fixture. The result secured Ireland a place in the semi finals, where they produced a spirited comeback against San Marino after losing the opening two sets. Ireland fought back to level the match before narrowly missing out in a dramatic deciding set.
The team went on to face the Faroe Islands in the bronze medal match, finishing fourth overall after another determined performance.
Reflecting on the tournament, Moloney said the experience was a rewarding one for the squad.
“Looking back on the tournament, it was a really enjoyable and rewarding experience overall. As a squad, we had put a huge amount of work into preparing over the past year, so it was exciting to finally travel to Andorra and compete internationally.
“It was also a great opportunity to play against teams that we had never faced before and to test ourselves at a high level. Representing Ireland is always a special experience and it was great to be part of such a dedicated and hard working group of players and staff.”
Ireland will now turn their attention to the 2026 BVF Invitational Cup, which takes place from 31st July to 2nd August at the UL Arena in Limerick. The team will face England, Northern Ireland and Scotland as preparations continue for another exciting period of international competition.
