We are delighted to see Bernie Burke, 2025-26 Fulbright-TechImpact Scholar and doctoral researcher in the Trinity College Dublin School of Education, receive support for her project, "AI, Career Education and the Future of Work: A Fulbright Transatlantic Dialogue.” The project will explore one of the most pressing challenges facing higher education: preparing students and professionals for an AI-shaped labour market. 

Hosted by the School of Education's D.Ed. Programme under the direction of Professor Andrew Loxley, the symposium will bring together Irish, American and European perspectives on AI, career education and the future of work. Building on Bernie's Fulbright Tech Impact Scholar experience at Georgia Institute of Technology and for Fulbright, the event will connect research, practice and policy discussions around AI, skills development and workforce readiness.

Dr David Gaston, D.Ed., Executive Director of the Georgia Tech Career Center will be one of the main speakers ensuring a substantive transatlantic dimension grounded in both practice and research. Timed to coincide with the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the symposium (3 December 2026) will connect doctoral research, institutional expertise and live policy questions about AI, skills and the future of work. 

The symposium will also draw on the expertise of CAVE (Cultures, Academic Values and Education Research Centre), whose work explores the role of education in supporting human flourishing, integrity and truth.
