Dr John Walsh was one of the expert contributors for Tumtha, a documentary on RTÉ2 telling the story of the Coláistí Ullmhúcháin (Preparatory Colleges), seven all-Irish second-level boarding schools established in the early years of the State to support the revival of the Irish language.
Dr Walsh spoke about the foundation of the Preparatory Colleges by the Irish Free State, their key role in the early state-led movement for revival of the Irish language and the closure of most of the Colleges in the early 1960s.
