This study looks at the transition between primary and second level education from the perspective of Initial Teacher Education in Ireland, in particular, second level teacher education.
Through a mixed methods approach, teacher education policy and programmes are analysed, student teachers across national Teacher Education institutions surveyed and Teacher Educators interviewed. An intervention strategy using the virtual platform of eTwinning will be set up using a sample group of second level student teachers and primary levels student teachers. The impact of eTwinning as a virtual transition bridge is implemented, monitored and analysed within the context of TTE and education digital policy and practice.
