Course Description
The M.Sc in Economic Policy provides students with a greater understanding of the economic policy process and the ability to engage confidently in evidence-based economic policy making. It enables graduates to contribute effectively to the processes of economic policy formulation, change and implementation, using various concepts and methods from the social sciences. This is a jointly delivered programme betwee nthe Department of Economics at Trinity College Dublin and the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI). It will be delivered by expert staff in key practical areas of policy design. It is aimed at civil and public sector employees in Ireland who do not have a background in economics e.g. at officials in government departments, the HSE, state bodies and agencies, to allow them to better engage with international and national economic research with relevance for Irish policy formation. It will cover a range of key policy areas including, but not limited to, health economics, housing, climate change, banking, regulation, behavioural economics, taxation and welfare. The programme is two-year part time offered every second year.
