ICSEI 2024 social 1

Trinity’s School of Education and the Marino Institute of Education will host the 37th International Congress on School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI) from 9-12 January. Over 500 delegates from 42 countries will reflect on strategies to support and enhance the functioning of schools. Leading experts in educational policy, school effectiveness, and leadership will exchange ideas on how schools can be optimised to serve the needs of students, school communities and society. Recent disruptive events, including the COVID-19 pandemic and wars, illustrate the importance of school to young people. Delegates to ICSEI 2024 will consider how education systems may need to incorporate more robust structures and processes that can help address unexpected challenges.

Prof. Damian Murchan, conference Co-chair notes that:

ICSEI 2024 is the largest international conference on school effectiveness and improvement ever held in Ireland. It comes at a time of ongoing developments nationally in relation to curriculum, pedagogy, initial teacher education and professional development for teachers and school leaders across education sectors. The conference will provide a rich opportunity for the interchange of ideas between Irish-based researchers, policymakers and practitioners and their colleagues in other jurisdictions. I hope that this congress will provide enduring opportunities for stronger international collaboration in these important areas.
