Welcome from the Director of EEDI

"Welcome to the School of Nursing and Midwifery’s Equity, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EEDI) webpage.  The School of Nursing and Midwifery is committed to creating an environment where Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are embraced and where individuals can flourish.

My name is Dr. Louise Gallagher, and I am the Director of Equity, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. As the Director of EEDI, I work across the school and the Executive Committee to raise awareness of the barriers to EEDI and propose and implement strategies to overcome these obstacles. This work supports our ethos of community and belonging, and recognises the unique identity of our students and staff and commitment to excellence in sustaining a programme of growth for all members of our community

The School of Nursing & Midwifery received the Athena Swan Bronze Award in November 2024 in recognition of our commitment to advancing gender equality and inclusivity across our academic, learning, and health service environments. We are currently advancing our Gender Action Plan in line with the principles of the Athena SWAN  Charter.
