Trinity School of Education Professor Damian Murchan gave his Presidential address to 400 international delegates gathered in The Hague. Delegates from 43 countries in Europe and elsewhere are attending the 2025 annual meeting of the Association for Educational Assessment Europe (AEA Europe) to reflect on the role of assessment in promoting excellence in schools, higher education, and professional/workplace settings.
Professor Murchan, AEA Europe President for 2024-2026, spoke on the theme of the conference: “Designing tomorrow’s assessment landscape for positive impact on learning.” He noted that the international assessment community has a responsibility to leverage the tools and practices at its disposal to enhance learning and improve society. Keynote speakers at the conference are drawn from The Netherlands, the UK, the US and Cyprus and delegates also engage with papers, symposia, discussion groups and posters.
AEA-Europe is the major professional association for educational assessment researchers, policymakers and providers in Europe. Members of the association work in examination agencies, regulatory bodies, research institutes, universities, schools, the corporate sector and government organisations.
