The Creative University
Across keynotes, panels, and informal conversations, we heard powerful and inspiring reflections on:
🔹 The role of the university in a time of social and ecological crisis
🔹 The possibilities of critical, caring, and democratic pedagogies
🔹 How philosophy and theory can help us reimagine institutional life
Some recurring themes across the three days:
- Insight 1– “Creativity is much richer and more critical than the neutralised versions on offer in our institutional marketing, and the arts and humanities are a central part of what the university is about.”
- Insight 2– “Transforming our students and our institutions is imperative in times of conflict and climate catastrophe – change is our route forward.”
- Insight 3–“The university must create space for uncertainty, plurality, and risk, since 'productivity’ can only get us so far”
It was a privilege to host such an engaged and international community of scholars. Thank you to all who travelled to join us, and to everyone who contributed to making the event such a thoughtful and energising space.
Special thanks to the PATHES network and our colleagues at Trinity and UCD for their collaboration and support.
Let’s keep the conversation going.
