About the Laidlaw Undergraduate Leadership and Research Programme
The Laidlaw Scholarship is sponsored by Lord Laidlaw of Rothiemay and the Irvine Laidlaw Foundation. It funds the Laidlaw Undergraduate Leadership and Research Programme in twelve international universities, including Trinity.
This programme invests in talented and motivated undergraduate students, giving them the knowledge, skills and experience to become active global citizens and future leaders. The programme has three main components -
- a research project of 6 weeks in Summer 1
- a Leadership in Action experience of 5-6 weeks in Summer 2
- an integrated leadership development programme which takes place over the 18 month duration of the scholarship
Activities for the 2021 cohort will take place from April 2021 to October 2022.
Laidlaw Scholars and supervisors at Trinity are part of a global network of partner universities which currently includes twelve other institutions. Trinity joined Columbia University, Tufts, and the University of Hong Kong in introducing the Laidlaw scholarship in 2018.
