The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Office and Learning and Organisation Development in Human Resources are pleased to announce an invitation to apply for the Preparing for Academic Advancement (PAA) Programme, in collaboration with the other six national University Project Partners. This is the third year of the programme which is funded by the Higher Education Authority's (HEA) Gender Equality Enhancement Fund and is managed by the University of Limerick.

The aim of this programme is to support women at Associate Professor and Professor In grades to submit successful applications for promotion to Professor In or Professor Of. This programme has been put in place to support the achievement of the HEA target of 40% representation of men and women at full professorial level by 2026. Trinity have a maximum of three places available for participants.

Eligibility

This programme is open to women at Associate Professor or Professor In grades who intend to submit an application for promotion to the Professor In or Professor Of within the next two years. 

Please note that a review of the Senior Academic Promotions process is currently underway, and a new call is expected to be launched in 2024.

The programme involves 3 modules over 4 workshops as well as individual coaching and mentoring. Mentors will be assigned to each participant.

Submission

If interested, please complete the Expression of Interest (EoI) Form clearly setting out how you feel you would benefit from participating on the programme, along with any other contextual factors that may have impacted on your career to date. Closing date for applications is Thursday, 25 May 2023 at 5pm. Please forward your application to paa@ul.ie.

Applications will be assessed by four independent senior academics from the partner institutions under the following headings:

  • What would personally be gained from attending the programme (30 Marks)
  • Contextual factors that have affected your career to-date including, previous unsuccessful applications, periods of leave, impact of Covid etc. (50 Marks)
  • Areas that you would like to explore within your Mentoring Relationship (20 Marks)
