Just a few weeks into the new academic year, fourth-year Computer Science students were already looking ahead to the next stage of their programme as the School of Computer Science and Statistics welcomed representatives from more than 20 companies to the Trinity Innovation Hub for 'Speed Connect' on the 23rd of September.

The busy morning brought students and potential internship employers together in a ‘speed interview’ format, with students meeting many companies over the course of the event. The short sessions give students an opportunity to introduce themselves, find out more about different organisations and roles, and gain valuable experience engaging directly with industry recruiters. For participating companies, it is an opportunity to meet students in person and identify potential candidates ahead of the internship recruitment process.

The students taking part are on the integrated five-year BA (Mod) and Masters in Computer Science programme, having achieved the 2.1 standard required to progress to the five-year track. A key part of the programme is a paid internship of five to eight months, giving students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a professional setting and develop their technical and workplace skills before returning to complete their Masters.

Speed Connect plays an important role in preparing students for that experience. Alongside making connections with potential employers, it allows them to explore career paths at a point when they are beginning to consider where they would like their internship to take them. Employers, in turn, have the opportunity to meet a strong cohort of Computer Science students and build relationships with potential future talent.

This year’s Speed Connect brought together students with representatives from Amazon, AMD, Arista Networks, Canada Life, Dassault Systèmes, Ericsson Software, IBM, Intel, Kerry, LexisNexis, Mastercard, MongoDB, Nexthop AI, Propylon, Red Hat, RenaissanceRe, Susquehanna International Group, Stripe, Vectra AI and Workday.

The School would like to thank all of the organisations and representatives who took part in Speed Connect 2026 and who continue to support our students through the Internships Programme.

By creating a space for students and employers to meet face-to-face, Speed Connect continues to be an important bridge between the academic and professional elements of the five-year Computer Science programme.
