Trinity Access Programmes (TAP)

Trinity College is strongly committed to ensuring a significant increase in participation at third level of those who for social, economic and educational reasons have not yet realised their full educational potential. The Trinity Access Programmes (TAP) are part of Trinity's contribution to tackling social exclusion, through a range of innovative, targeted initiatives for individuals who, for socio-economic reasons, have not yet realised their full educational potential.

Three application routes are available:

  • TAP foundation course for young adults

This one-year course aims to equip students with the skills they will need to benefit from and participate in a third-level education course. It is open to Leaving Certificate pupils from schools affiliated to third level access

  • TAP foundation course for mature students

This one-year course prepares mature students (EU students who are over twenty three years of age on 1 January of the proposed year of entry) for entry to undergraduate studies at Trinity College and other third-level institutions.

  • Higher Education Access Route (HEAR)

Places are available for Leaving Certificate pupils from schools affiliated to third level access programmes. Further information is available from the Trinity Access Programme website.
